Ghadafi Just Looking Out For Himself

Thursday 1/8/2004

Welcome to my world, where I see a lot of liberals and Democrats like Howard Dean saying we didn't have to go to war in Iraq. They say see, see, see! Diplomacy worked with Moammar Ghadafi of Libya. I mean, the liberal press even headlined the story "Libya Vows to Give up Banned Weapons. Two decades of sanctions and isolation wore down Ghadafi." That spin is enough to make even hard core liberals dizzy. My reply to that headline in the leftist Washington Post is, where the hell have you been for the last year? The time line on the Ghadafi capitulation, after 18 years, is at best suspect. Ghadafi, one of the grand daddies of modern terrorism, saw the handwriting on the wall and moved to save his sorry butt. He opened communications with the British only days before coalition forces hit Iraq. They talked and talked as the war raged on and accepted U.S. and British terms to surrender his WMDs and sever his terrorist ties just five days after they fished Saddam Hussein out of his rat hole in the Iraqi desert. I don't believe that was an accident or the result of brilliant diplomacy. And look at the rest. Iran grabs a European plan on nukes so they won't have to face Bush, and Syria is making peace overtures for the first time in years. So for those hand holding liberals who think their cumbaya, we are the world, world without end amen, pressure is forcing diplomacy, here's the bottom line. The Syrians and their terrorist cowards, the Iranians with their devious, deceiving Mullahs with nukes under their robes, and Moammar Ghadafi, aren't worried about the diplomacy or possible sanctions or their image. These people are simply afraid that our Commander in Chief, President George W. Bush, is going to open another can of whip-ass, as I see it ... I'm H.G. Listiak.
